SPECIAL TO THE REPORTER

County residents are now able to experience the action of Shelby County Sheriff’s deputies in real time.

Sheriff Chris Curry recently announced the addition of a Dispatch Log to the department’s website, www.shelbyso.com.

The log allows anyone with Internet access to view current calls for service for the sheriff’s office along with calls which occurred during the past 24 hours.

The log will include the event number, time of call, call description, call location and a cross street when it’s available.

If the call is currently active, the log will designate the number of sheriff’s units assigned.

Curry said the dispatch log is a continued effort by his office to give the citizens of Shelby County the fastest, most efficient and reliable information possible.

&8220;By providing this current and accurate information, the safety of our citizens is improved,&8221; Curry said.

&8220;The ability to interact and provide crime tips for immediate response to capture a &8216;most wanted’ or begin an investigation into drug-related or other criminal activity makes the public an integral part of our community crime prevention.&8221;

The sheriff’s department website also includes new releases, pistol permit applications, criminal activity reports, Shelby County’s Most Wanted, career opportunities, crime prevention tips, sexual offender information and a listing of current inmates of the Shelby County Jail
