Alton L. Glass

Alton L. Glass, 75, of Calera died Sunday, Jan. 1, 2006, at a Birmingham hospital. He was born Nov. 14, 1930, in Shelby County and had retired from Westinghouse Electric Corporation after 28 years of service.

He was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the U.S. Army. He was a talented mechanic and loved restoring antique cars. He was a member of the Dixie Vintage Automobile Club and a loving father and husband.

He is preceded in death by his parents, George A. Glass Sr. and Lela B. Glass; and his brother, George A. Glass Jr.

He is survived by his former wife of 45 years, Christine Glass of Calera; his son, Dale (Doris) Glass of Calera; his daughters, Shelia Glass Lawrence of Chilton County, Georgia Ann Glass of Vernon, Ala., and Pamela King of Calera; grandchildren, Justin Glass, Courtney Blake, Joshua Glass, Kenton Glass, Joseph King and Zachary King; and a host of great-grandchildren; sisters and brothers, Agnes (Jason) Callonas of Pensacola, Fla., Samuel (Ramona) Glass and Daniel Glass, both of Calera and Elizabeth (John) Eiland of Clanton.

Service was Jan. 4 at noon at Bolton-Letlow Chapel. Burial followed in Shelby Memory Gardens, Bolton-Letlow Funeral Home directing
