A resolution proposed by Montevallo Councilmember Hollie Cost to impose a moratorium on new development failed to pass at Monday night&8217;s regular Montevallo City Council meeting.

The resolution failed to carry on a 3-3 split with Cost and Councilmembers Becky Cox-Rodgers and Greg Pendleton voting in favor and Mayor Sharon Anderson, along with Councilmembers Willie Goldmsith and Dana Byrd opposed.

The council approved the annexation of Scott Lovelady&8217;s property located north of Meadowgreen on Highway 119.

The council set a public hearing for Feb. 13 on a recommendation of the Planning Commission to amend the definition of a dwelling, single-family to read &8220;A building, eleven hundred (1,100) square feet or more in size.&8221;

Consideration of bids opened Jan. 5 for the Highway Sewer Extension North was carried over to the Jan. 23 meeting.

Consideration of the final plat of Heritage Trace-Phase II was carried over until ready.

The council received a job description and qualifications from a committee appointed to recommend on the hiring of a new police and will advertise the position.

No dates were set on a town meeting concerning growth.

No action was taken on a request from Sue Wilder that those who signed a previous petition about her property not be considered for the Planning and Zoning Commission.

Anderson announced the written resignation of Chris Fulmer from the Montevallo Planning and Zoning Commission.

The council voted to repeal the Safe Streets portion of the Montevallo Code as corrected.

Cathy Bearden and David Callahan were nominated to the Library Board.

Pat Kelly was re-appointed to the American Village Building Authority
