D.S. Merrell, 95, of Alabaster died Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2006, at a local nursing home. He was born Feb. 9, 1910, in Alabama.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Amner Merrell, and a grandson, Joel Merrell.

He is survived by his sons, Wilton N. (Mary) Merrell and Joe E. (Dorothy) Merrell; his grandchildren, Kenneth (Patti) Merrell, Brenda (Dean) Kingery and Dianne (Terry) Stewart; and four great-grandchildren.

Service was 11 a.m. on Jan. 14 at Bolton-Letlow Chapel with burial following in Shelby Memory Gardens, Bolton-Letlow Funeral Home directing
