The Briarwood Lady Lions gave their coach plenty to be happy about Saturday afternoon, topping region-foe Sylacauga, 60-45, and honoring Jim Brown for reaching the 300-win milestone earlier this year.

The Lady Lions&8217; victory was much need for a squad that lost a heartbreaker to Talladega Friday night, 66-54.

Ruth Ketcham led the way for Briarwood with 22 points in the victory, including 10 in the final quarter. Ketcham&8217;s teammate Andee Matthews added 19 points for the Lions (16-4).

Brown was honored following the girls&8217; game on Saturday for earning his 300th win on Jan. 10 against the Mountain Brook Spartans.

The Lady Lions travel to Northridge this Saturday.

Cornerstone Christian 37, Pratville Christian 25: The Cornerstone Christian Lady Chargers were paced by Marybeth Willis Saturday afternoon, as Willis notched 14 points and pulled down seven rebounds.

Willis&8217; teammate Aubri Smith finished with 11 points and six rebounds in the win.

Kingwood Christian 58, Taylor Road 13: Hannah Phillips netted 20 points and finished with 10 rebounds for the Lady Lions as Kingwood defeated Taylor Road Monday night, 58-13.

The Lions went on a 28-0 run in the middle two quarters to help seal the victory and advance their record to 15-3 on the season.

Vestavia Hills 47, Thompson 34: A battle of Class 6A top-10 teams turned in to a defensive struggle Friday night as fifth-ranked Vestavia Hills and ninth-ranked Thompson battled for an important Region 6 victory.

In the end, the Rebels were able to edge the Warriors, 47-34.

Chasity Herron led the way for the Lady Warriors in scoring with 12 points and eight boards while teammate Rhonda Watts added nine points in the losing effort as Thompson dropped only its third game of the season.

Spain Park 57, Oak Mountain 35: The Spain Park Lady Jaguars topped the Oak Mountain Lady Eagles Friday night as the Jags&8217; Tiffany Thomas led the way for her team with 14 points and five steals.

Thomas&8217; teammate Bailey Hosemann added 10 points for the Jags (12-7) while Oak Mountain was paced by Kate Jazinksi with 11 points in the losing effort.

Calera 53, Vincent 35: The Calera Lady Eagles were paced by Shanavia Dowdell Friday night, who finished with 20 points as Calera upended the Vincent Yellow Jackets, 53-35.

Dowdell scored 16 of her points in the first half while teammate Jalisa Thomas added nine points and seven steals for the Eagles (12-4). The Lady Jackets were led in scoring by Adrian Datcher, who finished with 15 points in the losing effort.

Indian Springs 24, Northside 21: The Indian Springs girls earned their fourth victory of the season Friday night with a 24-21 win over Northside.

LaTonzia Evans led Indian Springs with 11 points and 20 rebounds as her team moved to 4-9 on the season.

Coosa Valley 41, Pickens Academy 39: The Coosa Valley Lady Rebels got a boost from Kimberli Rutledge Friday night.

Rutledge finished with a triple-double, scoring 25 points, pulling down 18 rebounds and 10 steals as Coosa Valley upended Pickens Academy, 41-39.

Erica Hurst added 10 points for the Rebels (8-8), including a crucial free-throw with only seconds remaining in the game
