Joseph H. Atchison, 87, of Birmingham died Monday, Jan. 9, 2006. He was a member of Lakewood Baptist Church and had retired from O&8217;Neal Steel.

He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served during World War II. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Columbiana and the Harmonica Association of Alabama. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and a sister.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret Kite Atchison of Birmingham; his daughters, Susan A. (Eddie) Stephens of Locust Fork and Melanie A. (Thomas) Cooper of Columbiana; her brothers, David and Edwin Atchison of Columbiana; and grandchildren, Kala and Emily Cooper.

Service was Jan. 12 at 10 a.m. at Jefferson Memorial Gardens chapel in Trussville, Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home directing
