PRICEVILLE &8212; The Spain Park Jaguars&8217; Katie Quinn, Chris Spear and Tyler Bell took home gold medals in the second indoor track meet of the 2006 season Saturday, hosted by Northridge High School at the Celebration Arena.

Both Bell and Spear finished in first place in their events for a second straight week, with Bell taking first in the shotput and Spear vaulting higher than the competition in the pole vault. Bell&8217;s best throw measured 48 feet, five inches while Spear topped out at a height of 21 feet, six inches.

Quinn broke into the top three for a second-straight week in the girl&8217;s pole vault clearing nine feet, six inches to tie with Mary Francis Weatherly of Northridge for first.

Other top-three finishers in girls&8217; events included Oak Mountain&8217;s Raley Burnett in the 400-meter dash and the Eagles&8217; 4×400 squad. Burnett finished third in a time of 1 minute, 3 seconds while the 4×400 team crossed the finish line in 4:22.79 for a second place finish.

In team scoring, the Oak Mountain girls finished in fifth place with 25 points.

On the boys&8217; side, the Oak Mountain&8217;s 4×800 team finished second in a time of 8:35.20. The Eagles&8217; boys squad finished eighth overall with 15 points while the Spain Park Jaguars finished sixth with 22 points in the competition.

Indoor rankings released

The week three indoor track and field rankings were released today by www.AlabamaHighSchoolTrackandField.com.

On the boys&8217; side, Spain Park and Oak Mountain both dropped a spot in 6A. The Jags fell to eighth place while the Eagles are ranked ninth. The Briarwood boys also dropped a spot to 10th in the 5A rankings.

On the girls&8217; side, Oak Mountain held steady in fourth place while the Lady Jags moved up from beingpreviously unranked last week to ninth place in this week&8217;s poll
