The Pelham Church of God is pastored by Hurshel &8220;Bob&8221; Collins and hosts some 100-120 members.

Rev. Collins received his bachelor&8217;s degree from Lee University in Cleveland, Tenn., in 1983. He has since served as pastor in churches in Hawaii, California, North Dakota and Alabama.

Pelham Church of God offers Wednesday night Bible study and classes for all ages at 7 p.m. The church also has women and seniors&8217; ministries held monthly as well as regularly scheduled fellowship activities for the entire church body. Various youth activities are also scheduled throughout the month. (For more information visit www.pelhamcog.org).

Collins said he believes the church plays a crucial role in today&8217;s society.

&8220;The church must be revived to its proper place in our society lest we as a nation continue to slide further and further away from the truths on which it was founded,&8221; he said.

&8220;Our greatest role as a local church is to be the church that God has called us to be and be in the world but not of the world. We must not allow the world system to squeeze us into its mold but be a light and lamp according to God&8217;s word and principles.&8221;
