Girls’ basketball results: THS gets big win over Jags

The Thompson Lady Warriors earned a much-needed win over Spain Park Saturday afternoon, 46-31.

Chasity Herron finished with a double-double, netting 12 points and pulling down 16 rebounds for the Lady Warriors. Tamara Williams and Rhonda Watts contributed 13 points each as Thompson moved to 17-4 on the season.

Ashley Baker finished with nine points for the Lady Jags as Spain Park fell to 15-9 on the season.

Calera 60, Altamont 38: Shanavia Dowdell finished with a team-high 27 points and 14 rebounds Friday night to help her team defeat the Altamont Lady Knights, 60-38.

The Lady Eagles blew a 16-point second quarter lead and went into the break with only a five-point advantage.

But the fifth-ranked Eagles bounced back in the second half and pulled out the win, advancing their overall record to 17-5 in the process.

Montevallo 50, Jemison 40: After defeating the Chelsea Lady Hornets Tuesday night to claim the area championship, the Montevallo Lady Bulldogs defeated Jemison on Thursday night, 50-40.

Lakisha Brown led the way for Montevallo with 22 points and 14 rebounds as the Lady Bulldogs advance their record to 15-8 on the season.

Kingwood Christian 54, Coosa Valley Academy 32: The Kingwood Lions went on a 21-9 run in the second quarter of their game against Coosa Valley Friday night and eventually defeated the Lady Rebels, 54-32.

The Lady Lions&8217; Hannah Phillips scored a team-high 25 points while teammate Kayla Kates added 16 points and pulled down 11 rebounds as Kingwood moved to 19-3 on the season.

Kimberly Rutledge led the Rebels in scoring with 13 points.

Chelsea 40, Vincent 25: The Chelsea Lady Hornets moved two games above .500 Friday night with a 40-25 victory over the Vincent Yellow Jackets.

Adair Bowman and Lindi Thompson netted 11 points each as the Hornets moved to 12-10 on the year.

Adrien Datcher led the Jackets with 13 points.

Shelby Academy 45, East Memorial 30: Paris Reneau led the way for the Lady Raiders Friday night, netting a team-high 18 points as Shelby Academy defeated East Memorial, 45-30.

Kimbrell Lee added 15 points for the Raiders
