Chesteen K. Mathis, 77, of Chelsea died Sunday, Feb. 5, 2006, in Montevallo. She was born April 28, 1928.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Annie Kirkland; hr father, Robert Kirkland; and her daughter, Phyllis Gail Mathis.

She is survived by her daughters, Myra (Ralph) Lucas of Montevallo, Flora (Paul) Hinkle of Montevallo and Denise (Steve) Smith of Chelsea; her sons, Jerry Dean Mathis of Chelsea, David (Brenda) Mathis of Crossville, Ala., and Phillip Wayne Mathis of Clanton; 12 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Service was Feb. 7 at 11 a.m. at Rockco&8217;s Funeral Home Chapel, the Rev. Reburn Dailey presiding. Burial followed in Montevallo Cemetery, Rockco&8217;s directing
