Coupon books on sale to benefit schools

&8220;Coupons for Classrooms&8221; are now on sale for Shelby County Schools.

According to Carol Bruser, executive director of the Greater Shelby County Education Foundation (GSCEF), the new &8220;bigger&8221; and &8220;better&8221; coupon book fund-raider includes more than $1,500 worth of discounts from Shelby County and area business &8212; $60 from Publix alone.

The book sale is sponsored each year by the GSCEF.

This year&8217;s goal is to sell 25,000 of the

books and raise $187,500 for local schools.

Local schools will sell the coupon books for $15 with schools retaining $7.50 per book sold.

In addition, the public education foundation will receive $1.25 per book sold for the Classroom Mini-Grant program.

The program provides $25,000 annually to teachers throughout the Shelby County school system for curriculum enhancement.

Coupon books went on sale Feb. 1

and will be sold until Feb. 17 at all Shelby County public schools.
