Doris Allen, 81, of Columbiana died Thursday, Feb. 2, 2006, at home. She was born April 4, 1924, in Margaret, Ala., where she was raised, the daughter of a coal miner.

She retired from Woolworth and moved to Columbiana in 1990. She was preceded in death by her parents, Fonley and Irene Brown.

She is survived by her son, Fonley (Jan) Allen; her daughter, Brenda (Steve) Jones; her sister, Pauline Pennington; her brother, Robert (Becky) Brown; five grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside service was Feb. 4 at 3 p.m. at Margaret Cemetery, Bolton-Letlow Funeral Home directing. The family requests memorial donations be made to TEARS animal rescue in Birmingham
