Shelby County head basketball coach Charles Dickinson was announced as the school&8217;s new athletic director last week on the heals of the announcement that Ryan Herring will be Wildcats&8217; new head football coach.

&8220;I think the kids will respond well to coach Dickinson as athletic director,&8221; Shelby County principal Gene Rogers said. &8220;He&8217;s a professional through and through, and I, the faculty and the student body care for him dearly.&8221;

Dickinson has worked and coached at SCHS for 21 years, a tenure that Rogers said makes him the perfect fit to lead the Wildcats&8217; athletic program.

&8220;I&8217;m pleased with the opportunity,&8221; Dickinson said, &8220;and I&8217;ll be looking to make some positive changes.&8221;

Rogers said that Dickinson, who also serves as the school&8217;s head basketball coach, has always been a part of improving the Wildcat athletic program.

&8220;He&8217;s the kind of guy who will do what it takes to get our sports to the next level,&8221; Rogers said
