Ima Jean Hamilton

Ima Jean Hamilton, 85, of Jemison died Wednesday, March 29, 2006. She was born Nov. 11, 1920, in Alabama to the late Walter Moreland and Eileen Bama Herring.

She worked as a clerk and was a recipient of the 2003 Honorary Golden Eagle Award Senior Citizens Hall of Fame. She was a member of the Republican Party and the Chilton/Shelby Mental Health Board for 31 years. She started the library in Jemison.

She is survived by a daughter, Joan Sung of Jemison; a son, Victor Hamilton of Harvest; a granddaughter, Se Me Sung of San Francisco, Calif.; grandsons, Michael Hamilton of Birmingham, Scott Hamilton of Birmingham, Brian Hamilton of Austin, Texas, and Eric Hamilton of Austin, Texas; and a brother, Harold Moreland of Alabaster.

Service was April 1 at noon at St. Andrews Episcopal Church in Montevallo, the Rev. James Tuohy presiding. Graveside service followed at Midway Memorial Gardens at 1:30 p.m., Martin Funeral Home directing. The family requests memorial donations be made to the St. Andrews Episcopal Building Fund
