Joseph Hugh Dawson, 85, of Vandiver died April 15, 2006. A funeral service was held on April 16 at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Vandiver with interment in the adjoining cemetery.

He is preceded in death by three sons, Victor Ray Dawson, Ricky Dale Dawson and Larry Wayne Dawson.

He is survived by wife, Billie Mae Dawson; three sons David Darrell Dawson, Edward Harold Dawson both of Vandiver and Phillip Hugh Dawson of Lincoln; two daughters Donna Lee (Preston) Golden of Panama City, Fla. and Sherry Dawson (Jeff) Cobb of Oxford; 23 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren.
