Chelsea Boley, a 14-year-old eighth grader at Riverchase Middle School, is Shelby County Reporter Student of the Week.
RMS principal Charles Smith said Chelsea was recognized by her teachers for her honesty, integrity and strong work ethic.
&8220;Chelsea is always willing to help fellow students in the class, and she always participates in classroom activities and discussion,&8221; said eighth grade English teacher N. Wade.
Eighth grade teacher Dot Porter said &8220;Chelsea has such a kind heart and it shows every day in the classroom.&8221;
Chelsea is the daughter of Chris and Cathy Allarde.
She has two brothers, T.J. Boley, 20, and Brett Boley, 17, and two sisters, Abi Allarde, 2, and Ele Allarde, 8 months.
She is the granddaughter of Dr. Rudy and Jean Allarde and Ken and Betty Veitch.
Smith said Chelsea was rewarded for her good deeds in the school by receiving recognitions from several of her teachers. Her name was chosen from a drawing of student recognitions last semester. She donated her prize, a Wal-Mart gift certificate, to her grandmother.
Chelsea&8217;s favorite subject is world history because &8220;the teacher (Jason Parker) is really a good teacher and makes it fun.&8221;
One of her favorite teachers is Kimberly Romano, who teaches sixth grade science and math.
&8220;I learn a lot of stuff from her class and she is a real good teacher,&8221; said Chelsea. And, &8220;She knows my family.&8221;
Chelsea is a member of the Student Government Association and is secretary for the Future Consumer Career Leaders of America. She has also been recognized as Most Outstanding Student.
&8220;I like to play sports and hang out with my brothers and family,&8221; Chelsea said. She enjoys football, basketball and baseball. But she said she also likes to make bead bracelets and to scrapbook a little.
Chelsea said her brothers are her favorite superheroes.
&8220;They&8217;ve always been there for me and protected me and basically raised me to be the person that I am,&8221; she said.
Chelsea said she plans to attend the University of Alabama at Birmingham because she doesn&8217;t want to leave the state and doesn&8217;t want to be too far from her family.
She also said she wants to become an anesthesiologist someday because her grandfather, Allarde, did that.
&8220;He&8217;s really special to me and I just want to take after him,&8221; she said
