Columbiana man arrested on drug-related charges

A Columbiana man is out of jail on bonds totaling $12,500 in connection with drug related charges.

According to the Shelby County Sheriff&8217;s Office, Derrick Dewayne Watson was arrested on June 9 and charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance; unlawful possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and carrying a concealed weapon.

Columbiana Police Chief Johnny Brown said Watson had a .38 caliber Taurus handgun, 9 grams of crack cocaine, 4 grams of marijuana and a plastic container of cocaine residue.

Brown recognized Columbian Police Officers Tim Hyde, Alex Johnson and Sasha Lilly for making the arrest
