Fathers Day a blessing for all to enjoy

Father&8217;s Day is Sunday, June 18.
Much like Mother&8217;s Day, Father&8217;s Day brings a big lump to my throat.
My mother raised my sister and I alone after my father died of lung cancer when I was 15 years old. And I owe much to mom.
But in the short time I had with my father, he taught me what it was to be a man. He taught me to defend myself and to be strong. He taught me to value education so that I could make it further in the world than he did.
He taught me to respect my elders… those who taught me, those who fought for our country, those who lead.
He taught me to respect the law and give 100 percent to everything I did.
He taught me Christian morals, a belief in God and to be an honest upstanding citizen.
My father taught me to fish. He helped me with school projects and even helped me build my first model rocket, which actually worked.
While my father died at age 42 and I&8217;m now 53, he was so much wiser than I could ever be. I still hear the truths about life that came from him that hold me up every day.
My father meant the world to me because, everyone who knew him loved him and respected him.
He served in the Navy during World War II and Marines during the Korean conflict and making him proud was the one thing that meant most to me.
Life is too short to take for granted blessings like fathers.
I did not have much time in this world with mine.
Please take time this Father&8217;s Day to honor yours
