Church Focus: Gospel Ligh Baptist Church

Gospel Light Baptist Church in Pelham broke ground Sunday, June 4, 2006, on a new sanctuary.

More than forty people, including State Senator Hank Erwin, were in attendance for the special service.

&uot;Everybody’s excited about the land and the future building,&uot; said Steve Kilpatrick, pastor.

Construction has already begun on the church, which will be built on six acres on the corner of Roy Drive and Shelby County 58 in Helena. The 8700 square foot building will be completed by December.

When finished, the brick church will house classrooms, a fellowship hall and kitchen, offices, a missionary apartment and an auditorium with a 260 person seating capacity.

Gospel Light is a self-described &8220;traditional style worship&8221; church that started four years ago. The 75 members current meet at 3157 Pelham Parkway, across from city hall.

Gospel Light Baptist Church has a motto of &8220;A Family of Friends&8230;&8221; and welcomes vistors to its services, labeled as &8220;family oriented relevant teaching and old-fashioned preaching&8221; from the King James Bible.

The churches has Bible study and worship Sunday mornings, as well as Sunday and Wednesday evening services.
