SPECIAL TO THE REPORTER

Four-year-old Rachel Morris of Alabaster has been selected as the Shelby County Reporter&8217;s Reader of the Week

Morris won first place in the &8220;Name the Dragon Contest&8221; at the Albert L. Scott Library in Alabaster.

The dragon, a creation of recycled packing material, brown paper and an old plastic Easter eggs, hangs over the juvenile department as a mascot for the &8220;Once Upon a Time Summer Vacation Reading Program.&8221;

Its wings are decorated with neon-colored dots.

Morris&8217; winning suggestion was &8220;Dottie the Dragon,&8221; a name that the three judges agreed was descriptive and alliterate. There were 122 entries in the contest.

Morris won a gift set based on the The Paper Bag Princess by Robert N. Munsch for winning the contest
