James Roland Wheeler

James Roland Wheeler, age 66, born July 18, 1940, a lifelong resident of Wilsonville, died at home on Monday, July 24, 2006.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Ethel Faye and James Malcolm Wheeler and his sister, Lena Wheeler.

He served in the United States Army and the National

Guard.

He also was a founding member of the Fourmile Volunteer Fire

Department who recognized him in November, 2003, with a plaque for his loyal dedication to the department.

He also served as a First Responder with

Southeast Shelby Rescue.

He was a lifelong member of Bethel Baptist Church in Columbiana where he served in many capacities, but enjoyed singing in the choir most.

He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Brenda Wheeler; his daughters, Anita (Scott) Rolling of Wilsonville, Penny (Mark) Todhunter of Alabaster; four grandchildren, Chris (Cynthia) Gregory of Wilsonville, Shaune Gregory of Sterrett, Megan and Garrett Todhunter and one great grandchild, Bradley Roland Gregory; brothers, Robert and Herman Wheeler and one sister, Elaine Campbell.

Service was at 11 a.m., Thursday, July 27, 2006 at Bethel Baptist Church in Columbiana.

The Revs. Jeff Fortenberry and Joe Stone presided. Burial followed at Fourmile Baptist Church Cemetery.
