Funeral service for Christine B. Edmonds, age 81, of Wilsonville, will be at 10 a.m. today, Wednesday, Sept. 20, 2006 at Wilsonville Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Pinelawn Gardens. Visitation was yesterday from 6-9 p.m. at Bolton-Letlow Funeral Home.

Christine was born March 11, 1925 at Tallulah Lodge, Ga. and passed away Sept. 16, 2006 at the home of her daughter, Debbie (Billy) Pickens in Wilsonville.

She is also survived by her son, Mike (Joyce) Edmonds of Montevallo; daughter, Arleta (John) Bredehoft of Sugar Land, Texas; six grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; her sisters Theda (Garrison) Loudermilk, Marion Benfield and Gwen (Dale) Ellenburg Hoy, all from Georgia; and a host of nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by Lee Edmonds, her husband of 52 years, and her parents, Pauline (McCracken) and Thad A. Burrell.

Her life centered on her family, church and community. Her children learned by example as she cared for her parents as their health declined, took both leadership and support roles in her church – especially as a strong prayer warrior and partner in all her husband did. Doing whatever, whenever needed, she enjoyed the Wilsonville Civitan Club, Alabama Power Energizers, Young at Heart Choir and working at Wilsonville Hardware Store. She served on the Program Board of the Area Council on Aging as she eagerly and tenderly took on the role of caregiver to her mother through the stages of Alzheimer&8217;s.

Christine loved the outdoors, especially fishing and deer hunting, traveling in the motor home across the country, watching the trees turn the colors of fall and anticipating the freshness of spring as the flowers began to show in her beloved mountains. Dogwood trees held a special place in her heart.

She accepted her declining health with grace and dignity, showing us how to let others have the gift of service that she enjoyed so much.

As she taught us from Ecclesiastes 3, &8220;To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven.&8221;
