Wildcats take show to undefeated Calera

The Chelsea Hornets refused to quit against Benjamin Russell and despite some costly turnovers, prevailed.

That victory by Chelsea and a loss by the Oak Mountain Eagles to Minor proved to be the only false steps in my predictions last week.

I was 12-2 for the week and improved to 40-16 overall for a 71 percent accuracy rating.

But that is history. What will happen this Friday?

It wasn&8217;t hard picking the game of the week this time around. Class 3A Calera (4-0, 3-0) beat region opponent Marbury 40-13 on the road and will host 5A Shelby County (3-1, 2-1), which beat region opponent Chilton County at home 12-0.

Briarwood Christian School 5A (3-1, 3-0) is coming off a 42-6 win over region opponent Anniston at home and will travel to play 6A Homewood, which beat Carver 42-20.

-Prediction: Briarwood Christian School 21, Homewood 14.

Chelsea 5A (4-0, 3-0) is coming off a huge 31-21 come from behind win at home over region opponent Benjamin Russell and will host 5A Chilton County in non-region match.

-Prediction: Chelsea 28, Chilton County 7.

Coosa Valley Academy 1A, AISA (2-3, 2-2) is coming off a 19-6 loss to 2A Springwood and will host region opponent Warrior Academy. This should be an easy task for the Rebels.

-Prediction: Coosa Valley Academy 28, Warrior Academy 0.

Cornerstone 1A, AISA (3-2, 3-2) is coming off a 46-0 whipping of region opponent Open Door. Shelby Academy 1A, AISA (4-1, 4-0) is coming off an absolute embarrassment of region opponent Warrior 70-0.

-Prediction: Shelby Academy 35, Cornerstone 14.

Kingwood Christian School 2A, AISA (5-0, 3-0) is coming off a 25-0 win over region opponent Lakeside School at home and will host region foe Chambers Academy for homecoming.

-Prediction: Kingwood Christian School 35, Chambers Academy 0.

Montevallo 3A (3-1, 2-1) defeated region opponent Montgomery Catholic 47-20 at home and will travel to 3A West Blocton in non-region match.

-Prediction: Montevallo 21, West Blocton 7.

Oak Mountain 6A (1-3, 1-2) fell to region opponent Minor 19-15 and will host 6A Paul Bryant in a non-region match.

-Prediction: Oak Mountain 28, Paul Bryant 7.

Pelham 6A (3-1, 3-0) had a huge 27-21 win over region opponent Hueytown on the road and will host Oxford in a 6A non-region match. Oxford lost to Gadsden City 24-7.

-Prediction: Pelham 35, Oxford 7.

Spain Park 6A (2-2, 1-2) lost to region foe Vestavia 35-14 on the road will travel to play 6A Bob Jones in a non-region match.

-Prediction: Spain Park 28, Bob Jones 14.

Thompson 6A (3-1, 2-1) defeated region opponent Jackson-Olin 35-0 at home and will host 5A Hayes in a non-region match.

-Prediction: Thompson 42, Hayes 7.

Vincent 2A (3-1, 3-0) is buzzing after a 27-20 overtime win at home over J.B. Pennington and will travel to play 1A Verbena.

-Prediction: Vincent 28, Verbena 14
