The Oak Mountain Eagles are coming off an impressive 48-8 road win against 6A region opponent Carver-Birmingham on the road.

The Rams of Carver did not put up much of a fight against the Eagles of Oak Mountain.

&8220;They turned the ball over to us and sort of blew up in the second quarter,&8221; said Oak Mountain head football coach Jerry Hood.

The Eagles led the Rams 38-0 at the half, then cruised in for the victory.

Oak Mountain&8217;s Matt Daniels had something to do with the Ram turnovers, causing one and recovering another.

Oak Mountain starters did not play much past the first half of this contest.

Quarterback Richie Fordham completed eight of 10 passes for 106 yards and two touchdowns.

Backup quarterback Drew McKnigh spelled him, completing three of five passes for 21 yards. Walker Long came in for one 6-yard pass.

Fordham was the leading rusher with six carries for 49 yards and one touchdown. Eric McKelvy, who had seven carries for 47 yards, and Joel Holmes, who had seven carries for 41 yards, followed him.

The leading pass receiver was Zack Fowler who had three catches for 69 yards and a touchdown.

The fact that Spain Park lost to Homewood in overtime while Pelham spanked the Patriots 21-0 means nothing to Hood.

He said of the upcoming game with Spain Park, &8220;They look unsettling on tape to me. They scare me to death. Spain Park is a well-coached football team.&8221;

Hood also said he felt the Jaguars are better athletically.

Their win sets the stage for the 3-3, 2-2 Eagles to welcome cross county rivals the Spain Park Jaguars for a region battle at Eagle Stadium. Spain Park has fallen on hard times with a record of 3-3, 1-3.
