Alabaster&8217;s Albert L. Scott Library became much more computer friendly this week with the addition of wireless Internet access for patrons to enjoy.

Library director Nan Abbott made the announcement on Monday, citing a lack of computer space in the current facility.

&8220;Because of limited space, the library has only five computer work stations than can access the Internet,&8221; Abbott said.

Library patrons can access the service, which is free, with WiFi or Bluetooth-ready laptops.

&8220;We are happy to offer this service,&8221; Abbott said. &8220;Now with WiFi, patrons can more easily and quickly have access to information on websites.&8221;

The library was able to offer the wireless access, Abbott said, with help from a Shelby County grant and the city of Alabaster.

The library received $3,375 from a Shelby County Quality of Life grant, with Alabaster matching the same amount to help pay for the $6,750 project
