Panthers pass Hillcrest test, prep for THS

The Pelham Panthers are coming off a 32-20 win at Hillcrest of Tuscaloosa, with a date at Thompson on the road this Friday night.

Against Hillcrest, quarterback Josh Thomason completed 18 of 30 passes for 259 yards and three touchdowns and one interception.

Wes Holland rumbled and stumbled for 80 yards and one touchdown on 19 carries. He exceeded his ground gain with 112 yards and one touchdown via the pass from Thomason on nine passes.

Hanging with Holland was Isaac Bivens, who had six receptions for 109 yards and one touchdown.

The Panthers rushed for 141 yards and passed for 262 yards for 403 yards total offense.

Holland scored on a 1-yard run. Thomason connected with Bivens for a 28-yard TD pass and with Holland for a 5-yard TD pass. Thomason also scored on a 1-yard run.

Kicker Daniel Jackson split the uprights for a 23-yard field goal.

Hillcrest scored seven points in the first quarter and 13 point in the fourth

The upcoming contest between the 6A, 6-1, 5-0 Panthers and 6-1.4-1 region opponent Thompson should make a for an epic game of the week.

Last year Pelham defeated Thompson 13-10.
