The Coosa Valley Rebels put up a tough fight, never giving up against South Choctaw Academy for homecoming last Friday night, but fell in the end 47-21.

The loss drops the 1A, AISA Region 1 Rebels to 3-6 overall and 3-5 in region play.

&8220;It was a tough game for us,&8221; said Rebels&8217; head football coach Steven Mackin.

Rebels&8217; quarterback Whit Lovelady completed 12 of 20 passes for 107 yards and one touchdown; and Chase Ward had seven catches for 88 yards.

But other Rebels were limited to low numbers.

Steven Clinkscales carried 11 times for 15 yards and one touchdown.

Chase Ward had seven carries for 17 yards and Eli Freeman had two catches for nine yards and two carries for 20 yards and one touchdown.

The Coosa Valley defense was led by Ward with seven tackles, Cullem Guthrie with six tackles and Clinkscales with four tackles and one interception.

Still, Macken said, &8220;Our kids played very hard and never gave up.&8221;

The Rebels will close out the regular football season this Friday night at home in a non-region bout against Crenshaw Christian Academy, which beat Abbeville Christian 36-6.
