The Hoover Bucs erased any Oak Mountain playoff hopes with

42-20 thrashing of their 6A

Region 6 opponent at home last Friday night.

Oak Mountain head football coach

Jerry Hood said when his team handed Hoover the ball twice on turnovers, the Bucs, &8220;handed us our hat.&8221;

He said his team had to have a win at Hoover to make the playoffs.

Hover jumped out to a 28-0 lead in the first quarter and led 42-7 in the third quarter.

While the Eagles added 13 points to make the score look respectable, it was a little too late.

Oak Mountain&8217;s only points came on a 6-yard Richie Fordham run, a Nick Anderson 1-yard run and a Michael Connell 23 yard pass reception from Fordham. Ben Meadows added 2 PATs.

Fordham completed 18 of 26 passes for 281 yards, one touchdown and one interception.

The Eagles rushed a total of 38 times for 113 yards and two touchdowns.

Oak Mountain has one non-region match left this season against 5A Erwin at home. Hood said that game will be for pride and to try to get to a 5-5 overall record
