Church Focus: Shelby Crossings serving the world

Published 12:00 am Wednesday, December 20, 2006

The Church at Shelby Crossings serves the world from their campus in Calera.

Recently, members and attendees at Shelby Crosings collected a container of clothes and supplies that will be sent to Tanzania, Africa. A member of the church who comes from Tanzania will accompany the items being sent.

The church&8217;s other global mission field is the persecuted church in Sudan. Senior pastor Mike Satterfield explained that the church has been collecting donations to send to caretakers of children orphaned by the war in Sudan.

Locally, this Christmas season the church will deliver new warm clothes and underwear to the men staying at The Old Firehouse Shelter in downtown Birmingham.

The goodwill of The Church at Shelby Crossings isn&8217;t just seasonal, however. The church supports and ministers at The Old Firehouse Shelter regularly, and concentrates its global giving efforts to Tanzania and the Sudan.

The season will bring a special service on Dec. 24, however. On Christmas eve Shelby Crossings will celebrate the birth of Christ with a collective worship service, communion and family communion.

Lynn Bullock serves as the shepherding pastor and worship pastor is Michael John Clement. Jason Daggett serves as the children&8217;s minister, Adam Mitchell is the youth minister, Brian Fulton is the college minister, Jeremy Maxfield is another student minister and Debbie Bullock serves as ministry center coordinator.

The church is located at 532 George Roy Parkway in Calera. The church began in 2000 as the first daughter church of The Church at Brook Hills, located on Brookhighland Parkway.
