Reaching out with Gods hands

What began in a small trailer in Mt Laurel has blossomed into a ministry outreach program that is known all over the state as God&8217;s Outreach Center.

Located in Harpersville, the organization is built on the goal to work together to quickly bring resources to those in need.

Della Pender, sales manager of Mt Laurel and founder of God&8217;s Outreach Center said Mt Laurel is the true meaning of a traditional development.

Pender, along with five other ladies from five separate churches, joined together in 1998 to develop a ministry for single moms and their children. The goal was to provide help to anyone who has a need. Pender said she wanted an organization that acted with a &8220;now&8221; attitude.

&8220;If someone called me and said, &8216;Della, we need food.&8217; That means we need it now, not tomorrow,&8221; Pender said.

In the summer of 2005, the ministry moved to a house in Harpersville that Pender and other volunteers renovated to make each room a place where families can come and receive the supplies they need. There are rooms designated for ladies, children, men, kitchenware and linens.

&8220;We bring them to the center and let them look around or we will go to their house and minister to them,&8221; said Pender. &8220;I have seen someone come and change their clothes right there and leave with new clothes. It is wonderful.&8221;

Pender lost her 22-year-old son in 2004 and felt it was God&8217;s will to keep her busy with the center. &8220;This is just a blessing. We look forward to this year and to be able to do more. To give God the glory, that is what God&8217;s Outreach Center is all about,&8221; Pender said.

There is a qualification process families go through before service is rendered.

This past Christmas, the ministry adopted 15 families and 47 children.

The house in Harpersville is open every Wednesday and by appointment. There is contact information on the porch. Pender credits the families of Mt Laurel and says many people want to reach out and just don&8217;t know how.

&8220;Here you have the one-on-one opportunity to help. People see we&8217;re making a difference. We do this in our spare time and it is a joy to do this,&8221; Pender said. &8220;This is the most awesome thing I have ever seen in my life.&8221;
