A 27-year-old Montevallo woman was arrested last week and charged with stealing $22,000 from the local United Way agency where she had worked.

Prosecutors say Altricia Marie McCurdy wrote checks to herself while employed at Shelby Emergency Assistance in Montevallo from December 2005 to November 2006.

McCurdy now faces charges of first-degree theft and fraudulent use of a credit and debit card. She was released from the Shelby County Jail after posting a $30,000 bond.
