Christine Ellis, 93, of Columbiana, died Thursday, March 8 at a local hospital. The funeral service was held Saturday, March 10 at 2 p.m. at Columbiana United Methodist Church. The Rev. Pete Grice and the Rev. Don Wright presided.

A private family burial followed at Ellis Family Cemetery.

Visitation was held Saturday, March 10 from 1-2 p.m. at the church. Ellis was born on April 19, 1913 in Sylacauga.

She was a member of Columbiana United Methodist Church for over 70 years, a schoolteacher for more than 25 years, teaching at Fourmile School and Columbiana Elementary and a longstanding member of the DAR.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Ellis, Sr. She is survived by her children; Linda (John) Blanton, Leven Handy (Patsy) Ellis II, Frank Corley (Diane) Ellis, Jr.; grandchildren, Patrick (Sandra) Downing, Patty Ellis, Skylar Ellis (Shea) Sullivan, Roger Ellis, Heather Ellis, Handy &8220;Trip&8221; Ellis III, Handy &8220;Chip&8221; Ellis IV, Kelly Ellis (Jonathan) Davis, Christy Ellis (Virgil) Brasher, Frank Corley Ellis III, Levin Blanton (Robert) Elpers, John Arnold (Beth) Blanton III; 16 great-grandchildren; sisters, Chloe Moody Liggin, Tommie Moody Covert and a host of other family and friends.
