Hog heaven found at Revival

One local church is taking a non-traditional approach to reaching its community.

The members of Vincent Revival Church in Vincent gave an entire Sunday to the &8220;hog.&8221; No, not pork&8230;motorcycles.

More than 30 bikers and their prized modes of transportation showed up to the Vincent based church Sunday morning.

&8220;We want to let some of these bikers know that there are biker friendly churches,&8221; said Terry White, church deacon, biker and creator of the event.

White first proposed the idea after visiting a church in Tennessee that had a biker dedicated Sunday.

&8220;I thought, why couldn&8217;t we do this at our church,&8221; White said.

According to White, so many people feel rejected by the church, but it is up to Christians to reach out to everyone with Christ&8217;s message of love.

White shared his vision and both the congregation and leadership got on board.

Sunday&8217;s events included contests, Bible study, lunch and an afternoon drive. Nine awards were given in several categories including best sport bike, cleanest bike and longest distance traveled, just to name a few.

Lunch was served after morning service, which was followed by an afternoon ride on the hogs.

Organizers say the event was a success, but not without a few hick-ups.

&8220;I learned a lot&8230;like not to do it so early,&8221; joked White. &8220;Bikers don&8217;t do anything before 9 a.m.&8221;

The church anticipates doing the same kind of event next year.

&8220;Everybody who participated really enjoyed it,&8221; he said.

Vincent Revival is not the only church to cater to the Biker community.

The Church at Brook Hills off highway 119 has a weekly Bible study class for bike lovers and even specialized parking in its lot for motorcycles.

For those at Vincent Revival last Sunday&8217;s bike day is just one in many steps they are taking to reach the world for Christ. They also hope everyone will know the same love of Jesus that they hold so dear, White said
