Virginia W. Cantrell

Virginia W. Cantrell, 89, of Shelby, died Friday, March 9 at Baptist Medical Center in Jackson, Miss. Visitation was held at Bolton-Letlow Funeral Home in Columbiana from 5-8 p.m. on Monday. The funeral service was held Tuesday, March 12 at Bethlehem Baptist Church on Lay Lake in Shelby, where she was a long time member.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Ray V. Cantrell Sr.
She is survived by her son, Ray V. (Linda) Cantrell Jr.; daughters, Nedra Diane (Ed) Lovelace, Anita Sue (Leonard) Musgrove of Brandon, Miss; eight grandchildren, Edward Lovelace Jr., Cindy and Ray Luby, Ray Cantrell III, Shannon and Marty Mays, Mickey and Frankie Musgrove, Sheila and Roger Simmons, Chris, Davida and Glen Lovelace; 11 great-grandchildren, Jillian and Jordan Luby, Dallas, Stormie and Tempest Cantrell, Corey, Aubrey and Peyton Mays, Brook Musgrove, Ryan and Nick Williams and Cade Lovelace; two sisters, Florence Louise Boykin and Edna Earle Bean and brother John Rice all of Shelby.
There are many nieces and nephews as well as great and great-great nieces and nephews of which she was very fond. Cantrell has spent many years in volunteer work in Shelby County with her primary efforts for the past 10-plus years focused on her work for the Shelby Baptist Association Ministry where she worked three half days per week until last September.
