Skaters grind it out in Alabaster

The second half of the 2006-07 Ride Skateboards Competition Association kicked off with contest No. 5 on March 10 at Alabaster’s Veterans Skate Park.

Forty-five competitors demonstrated their skateboarding skills in both sponsored and open divisions.

The contest began with Kane Taylor earning his fifth first place trophy in the Open Grom Division (ages 9 and under).

R.S.A. newcomer Blake Powell captured first place in the Open Boy&8217;s Division (ages 10-13), while Steven Spencet took home first in the Open Junior Men&8217;s Division and Blake Dimick won the Open Men&8217;s Division.

In the sponsored events, Atlanta’s Chris Coffman won the Boys&8217; Division, followed by Cameron Daniels winning the Junior Men&8217;s Division and Bryan Park earning a Men&8217;s Division title.

The R.S.A. season will continue on

Saturday April 14. Contest registration begins at 11 a.m. and the competitions start at noon.
