Pelham wins weekend tourney

Pelham continued their winning ways on the softball diamond Saturday, defeating Oak Grove 19-0 in the final of the Pleasant Grove Spartan Showcase.

The Lady Panthers used an 11-0 first inning to leap out in front, collecting 16 hits in the shortened game.

Earlier in the day, the Lady Panthers relied on Kelsey Dennis to led them to victory within the circle, as they defeated McAdory 3-0. Dennis struck out 13 batters in the no-hit performance, while Trish Zettler collected the win against Oak Grove.

The pitching duo teamed up for a pair of wins on Friday, defeating McAdory 2-1 and Homewood 3-1.

Dennis struck out nine in the win over Homewood, while Zettler struck out 11 McAdory batters.

Christin Crocker and Hailey Glynn each had RBIs in Friday&8217;s win over McAdory, while Lindsey price drove in two runs against Homewood. Mandi Halbrooks also had an RBI.

Zettler also led Pelham to a 3-1 victory over Briarwood on Thursday, while striking out 11 batters and walking none. She and Ashley Smith each had RBIs in the game.

Pelham (22-7), ranked No. 9 in Class 6A, has now won 11 of their last 12 games entering last night&8217;s area game at Thompson. They host Hueytown on Thursday
