Lay Lake cleanup success

Lay Lake lovers didn&8217;t let below freezing temperatures keep them from making the eighth annual shoreline cleanup a success.
Sponsored by the Lay Lake Home Owners and Boat Owners Association (HOBO), the week-long cleanup culminated in a &8220;chilly&8221; picnic Saturday.
&8220;Considering we liked to froze to death, we did really well,&8221; said Judy Jones, shoreline cleanup chairwoman for HOBO.
Although a smaller than normal crowd came out Saturday, Jones said participation throughout the week was good.
Local civic organizations like Boy Scout troops and church groups hauled in tons of trash. Dumpsters were placed at Bozo&8217;s, Beeswax Creek, Layport Marina and Okomo Marina for anyone who wanted to help.
Jones expects to know later this week just how much garbage was removed from the lake. Last year&8217;s cleanup rounded up almost 20 tons of trash
