Shelby County continues to be unstoppable at the plate, as they used a pair of fourth- inning home runs last Thursday to defeat Calera 10-0 and improve their consecutive runs streak to 30 within three games.

&8220;It&8217;s been a very good offensive week,&8221; head coach Ashley Phillips said. The Lady Wildcats started the week with a 12-1 win over Chelsea last Monday, followed by an 8-0 win against Jemison on Tuesday.

Jessica Pennington and Cycola Buie teamed up for a pair of two-run home runs in the fourth inning to help seal the win, as Brooklyn Phillips tossed a two-walk no-hitter from the circle.

Pennington, who already had a two-RBI single in the first inning and double in the second, collected her second home run of the season with two outs in the fourth, finishing just shy of the cycle.

&8220;I was really just wanting to get a base hit, and it surprised me when it went over,&8221; Pennington said.

Buie followed two batters later with her third bomb of the season, and second in as many games.

&8220;My hitting&8217;s improved since the beginning of the season…I just don&8217;t think as hard when I&8217;m up to bat,&8221; Buie said.

Phillips (7-0) proceeded to strike out four of the next seven batters faced to remain undefeated on the season. She finished with eight strikeouts in the game.

Kassadie Jones was 2-for-3 with a two-run double in the second.

Shelby County (15-4) canceled this week&8217;s trip to the Gulf Shores Tournament over spring break in order to rest nagging injuries, according to Coach Phillips, before the area tournament at Chelsea in early May.

&8220;I wish we could have played this weekend, because I don&8217;t think a week off will hurt us, but I also think we need a couple of days to rest,&8221; said Brooklyn Phillips, who pulled a groin muscle two weeks back.

Calera also fell 8-0 to Leeds during the week.
