John A. Kent

John A. Kent Sr., 86, of Calera died April 17, 2007. The funeral service was held Saturday, April 21 at 11 a.m. at Calera Baptist Church in Calera. He was buried at Elliottsville Cemetery in Alabaster. The Rev. Hal Warren presided. He is survived by his son, John A. &8220;Tony&8221; Kent Jr.; daughter, Dian K. &8220;Pugee&8221; McCray and brother, Dr. Warren W. &8220;Hoss&8221; Kent. &8220;Yogi&8221; is also survived by three grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, several cousins, nieces and nephews and numerous special friends in the Buxahatchee community who were like family.
Kent was a 66-year resident of Kent Dairy Farm in Alabaster, a deacon at Siluyria Baptist Church and an avid supporter of Thompson and Auburn football. After working on the family dairy, Mr. Kent (in his moustache and cigar) had a 26-year career delivering milk (always on time) all over Shelby County. John&8217;s true love was the thirty-plus years he spent running the Pro Shop at Buxahatchee Golf Course.
