Montevallo residents got their first look Thursday at the city&8217;s &8220;95 percent completed&8221; comprehensive plan.

David Hunke, with the Shelby County Department of Development Services, presented a rough draft of the plan to the Montevallo Planning and Zoning Commission.

The comprehensive plan outlines the city&8217;s goals and objectives (as given during several public hearings throughout the year) and includes a future land use map.

&8220;Montevallo&8217;s a gem. It&8217;s a special place in the region,&8221; said Hunke. &8220;We hope this plan will help keep it that way and enhance it.&8221;

The guidelines now go before the planning commission, which will hold further public hearings in coming weeks.
