Helena&8217;s annual KidFest, scheduled for August 4, will not take place this year.

The group sponsoring the event each year, the Women of Helena in Motion or W.H.I.M. canceled the event because of a lack of participation.

&8220;We had a tough time getting volunteers for everything and, with it being a children&8217;s festival, safety was a concern,&8221; W.H.I.M. founder Kym Jordan said. &8220;To hold the event we had to make sure we had enough people we could count on.&8221;

This would have been the fourth year for the event that normally takes place the weekend before school starts.

Each year, families were given the chance to bring their kids out to the free event to enjoy inflatables, food, crafts and games.

Jordan said she isn&8217;t sure if the event will be brought back next year or if the group will focus its energy on other events.

&8220;A lot depends on how much people miss it and want to help bring it back,&8221; Jordan said.

She said it normally takes at least 25-30 people to bring all of the activities together smoothly.

Jordan said any paid vendors or others who have made financial contributions will receive refunds by mail.
