Montevallo confers 236 degrees

More than 300 University of Montevallo students received their diplomas at spring commencement May 5. Following the commencement address by U.S. Rep. Artur Davis of Alabama&8217;s 7th District, UM president Philip C. Williams conferred degrees upon some 236 candidates for bachelor&8217;s degrees, 58 candidates for master&8217;s degrees and seven candidates for the educational specialist degree.

Also among graduates were international students Facundo Casas of Argentina, Raven Keet of South Africa and Cali Ramsey of Canada, who have all made Montevallo their home for the past few years.

Several students were recognized for earning the highest grade point average in the student&8217;s college at UM.

Among students leading The College of Arts and Sciences was Dorothea P. Ford of Alabaster. Audrey L. Fulghum of Alabaster led the Michael E. Stephens College of Business, and Bruce W. Finklea of Columbiana led the College of Fine Arts
