UM athletes earn academic honors

Three University of Montevallo baseball players were named to the Gulf South Conference spring all-academic team this week.
Senior first baseman Daniel Tankersley received a unanimous vote to lead the Montevallo representatives with a 3.65 grade point average in kinesiology.
Zach Andrews is one of two pitchers from the GSC East Division to make the team, while Ryan Norman&8217;s 3.25 GPA in biology earned him the catcher&8217;s spot.
The three were also named to the GSC Honor Roll along with teammates Daniel Furuto, Jeff Horne, J.D. Pruitt and Jeffery Reach.
Russell Cash led the honor role for UM men&8217;s golfers with a 3.88 GPA in accounting. He was joined by Brian Baulch, Nathan Landmon and Hernan Gambertogilo. Women&8217;s golfers making the honor roll were Morgan Bell, Jessica McDonald and Rachel Shaner.
Women&8217;s tennis also added three student-athletes to the honor roll in Marnie Chiasson, Laura Hamilton and Ansley White.
