Despite a 0-for-8 performance from the floor Thursday night, Thompson’s Rhonda Watts helped seal the deal at the charity stripe in the South’s 72-70 victory over the North during the AHSAA All-Star Sports Week in Huntsville. Watts hit two free throws in the final 30 seconds of the game to help the South’s one-point lead grow to 71-68 and help secure the South’s first victory over the North since 1999.

Thompson and South teammate Zoriah Williams led all players with 11 rebounds, while scoring six points and swiping two steals.

Later in the evening, Spain Park’s Jake Drum found a starting position for the North at forward and used it, scoring 12 points and grabbing five rebounds in a 96-71 boys’ all-star victory over the South.
