The 7-and-under Bama Buzz baseball team made the transition from machine pitch to coach pitch this season with ease, as they swept their way through the ASP Star Spangled Shootout in Pace, Fla.

The tournament was the Buzz’s first appearance of 2007, as they went 4-0 with wins over the Bill Bond Braves, 14-5, and Gulf Breeze Dolphins, 17-2, in pool play. They went on to defeat the Dolphins again, 18-10, in tournament play, followed by a 14-6 championship victory over the hometown Whitecaps.

Players from the team were all from Helena and Alabaster.

Another Helena team, the Cahaba Mudcats Red, finished second in the 16-and-under division, losing 6-3 to the Roadrunners for the team’s only loss.
