Ronald McClellan Rickett

Ronald McClellan Rickett, 70, passed away Thursday, July 19, 2007. Memorial services will be held at American Village Chapel at 5 p.m. on Thursday, July 26, 2007 with Dr. James Auchmuty officiating.

Mr. Rickett proudly served his country with love, honor and valor in the United States Army as a medic. He retired from Ernest McCarty Ford in Alabaster, where he was employed for many years. His hobbies included golf, crossword puzzles, the Cincinnati Reds and Alabama Football.

His brothers, John, Robert, Hiram and Stanley Rickett and his sisters, Ruth Moye and Shirley Rickett, preceded Mr. Rickett in death. Survivors include his wife of twenty-seven years, Mary Alice Rickett; daughters, Janie Holmes of Birmingham and Gwen Garrett (Lane) of Montevallo; sons, Steven Rickett (Judy) of Hayden and Michael Rickett of Birmingham; sisters, Louise Nauman (Larry) and Betty Neal (Jerry) all of Warrior; brothers, Harry “Sonny” Rickett (Frances) of Gardendale and Samuel Rickett (Bev) of Ohio; grandchildren, Vicki and Samantha Garrett, John and Dalton McGraw (Liz); and three great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorials may be made to The American Heart Association or to The American Cancer Society.

The family wishes to thank the UAB Palliative Care and Spain Rehab for their care and support.
