This summer, four students from the Shelby County School of Technology participated in national career technical competitions. These students each won their local and state level competitions to qualify, placing them in the top 2 percent of all career technical students in the nation.

Jeremy Heisler, a second-year student in collision repair technology placed seventh at the Skills USA Competition in Kansas City, Mo.

At the same competition, Ben Vines, a second year student in the CISCO networking program, placed ninth in the internetworking division, and Brett Mooney, who just completed his second year in welding, placed ninth in that competition.

Jessica Motes, a first-year student in the health care science program, represented SOT in the Health Occupations Students of America Competition in Orlando, Fla., with a prepared speaking presentation
