National night out

The Shelby County Sheriff&8217;s Office, in conjunction with the National Association of Town Watch, will hold its National Night Out event on Aug. 7. The program will be held from 5-8 p.m. at Target at the new Colonial Promenade in Alabaster on U.S. Highway 31. The Sheriff&8217;s office is hosting the event with the Alabaster police and fire departments. As part of the event, several &8220;tools of the trade&8221; are scheduled to be on display including patrol cars with the latest in computer technology, marine patrol watercraft, K-9 units, tactical response units and fire trucks. Deputies, officers, firefighters and emergency medical service personnel will be on hand to meet and answer questions from the public. Free food will be provided from local sponsors.
