Julie Nannette Harris of Columbus, Miss., and Frank “Corley” Ellis of Columbiana were married in a beach ceremony May 19, 2007, at 11:30 a.m. at the family beach house on Fort Morgan Road in Gulf Shores.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Kyle H. Conner of Columbus, Miss., and the late Leston A. Harris of Columbus, Miss. She is the granddaughter of Eileen Donaldson of Greasby, England, and the late Mr. Leslie Donaldson of Birkenhead, England, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Melmoth Harris of Belmont, Miss. Her aunts and uncles from England also attended the wedding.

The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank “Butch” Ellis Jr. of Columbiana and the grandson of Ernestine Bentley of Columbiana, the late Mr. Waymon J. Bentley of Columbiana and the late Mr. and Mrs. Frank Corley Ellis Sr. of Columbiana.

The bride was given in marriage by her mother, Elaine Conner.

Her Casablanca gown was made of white sleek satin with white/silver, ivory/silver and champagne/silver accents. Soft scallops on the neckline that continued onto the sheer off-the-shoulder straps were beaded to match the design. The back skirt of the gown featured a French-style bustle. The beadwork along the hemline of the A-line skirt continued to the end of the semi-chapel length train.

She carried a bouquet of long-stemmed mango calla lilies with ivory organza ribbon in a French twist.

The maid of honor was Jillian Emma Hatcher of Columbus, Miss., niece to the bride. She wore a Jessica McClintock dress made of apple green silk with an organza overlay with a matching organza shawl and a square neckline with spaghetti straps. The skirt was A-line and tea length.

The best man was Frank “Butch” C. Ellis Jr. of Columbiana, father of the groom. He wore a Ralph Lauren two-button suit with a tan mini-herringbone pattern with pleated pants. He and the groom wore coordinated ties.

The ushers were Harrison Graham Hatcher of Columbus, Miss., Jon Connor Davis of Columbiana and Nathan Ellis Brasher of Columbiana.

The flower girls were Jessie Kate Davis of Columbiana and Ella Christine Davis of Columbiana. They wore Strasburg lace made of white dupioni silk. The dresses were sleeveless with a square neckline. The boddess of the dress was a diamond which was pre-tucked inset at the waist with a matching sash that tied in the back. Their headpieces were made of variegated ivy with miniature white roses.

The ring bearer was Isaac Gardner Hatcher of Columbus, Miss., who wore natural linen pants with a matching shirt.

The bride attended Mississippi State University and graduated from the Mississippi University for Women in Columbus, Miss., where she obtained a Bachelor of Science in paralegal studies with a minor in general business. She is currently employed by Ellis Properties Inc. in Columbiana.

The groom graduated from Auburn University with a Bachelor of Science in operations management and a master’s of business administration. He is currently the owner and broker of Ellis Properties Inc. and also serves as a Shelby County Commissioner for District 1.

The reception was held immediately after the ceremony under a tent on the beach. The bride’s cake was decorated with hydrangeas, mango roses and key limes cascading down the four-tiered cake. The groom’s cake was decorated with the Auburn University “AU” logo with pirouettes around the two-tiered cake.

Music was provided by Ian Austin of Columbiana, a violinist, who played a variety of hymns and classical music for the wedding ceremony. The bride’s mother also surprised the couple with a horse and carriage ride after the wedding reception.

The couple spent their honeymoon in San Francisco, Calif., where they spent two nights then rented a car and took 10 days to drive leisurely along the coast on California Highway 1. The couple ended the drive in Seattle.

They now reside in Columbiana
