Rachel Blair of Alabaster attended the Gulf Island Journey at the Dauphin Island Sea Lab July 28-Aug. 3. Along with others from across the country, the Thompson Middle student explored beaches with a scavenger hunt, went on a ghost crab crawl, explored the marshes and took collection trips aboard the research vessel A.E. Verrill. Blair also visited Historic Fort Gaines and took a trip to a small island off the coast of Dauphin Island to view nesting birds and collect shells
